HOUSE OF SUNGAI PINANG

House of Sungai Pinang was created as a place where education, culture, community, and environmental awareness come together. Located in a small coastal village surrounded by the natural beauty of West Sumatra, the program provides children and young people with opportunities to learn beyond the classroom through creativity, leadership, language, arts, sports, environmental projects, and cultural exchange. By connecting local youth with educators, volunteers, and visitors from around the world, House of Sungai Pinang aims to nurture confident, capable, and compassionate individuals who are proud of their roots while being prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the future.

The Challenge

Like many rural communities, Sungai Pinang faces limitations in educational resources, access to learning opportunities, and exposure to broader perspectives. Many children grow up with tremendous potential but limited pathways to discover and develop their talents. At the same time, rapid social and environmental changes continue to affect traditional ways of life, creating challenges for both the younger generation and the community as a whole. Without meaningful support, guidance, and opportunities, many valuable talents, ideas, and aspirations risk remaining unrealized.

The Hope

Our hope is to build a generation that is not only educated but also empowered. A generation that values character as much as knowledge, understands the importance of protecting nature, respects culture and tradition, and possesses the confidence to contribute positively to society. Through House of Sungai Pinang, we envision a future where local children become leaders, innovators, educators, artists, entrepreneurs, and changemakers who create opportunities for themselves and their communities. We believe that when young people are given the right environment, encouragement, and support, they can become a powerful force for lasting social, cultural, and environmental impact.
